Windsor Wolves Match Report: http://www.facebook.com/WindsorWolvesRL/posts/332722360183999
06/04/2013 – It just felt a bad night for all Panther fans. A 30-0 loss, referee’s caning the Panthers in the penalty count and a flat effort in attack. I guess after being 16-0 after ten minutes, to concede only 14 points in the remaining seventy was a great effort which again makes me think this side has some ticker. Mansour and Lewis Brown tried so hard. Manu was ineffective and Whare had his worse game for the club. It amazes me that Tim Grant started from the bench tonight and had more impact then McKendry. The Newton high tackle on report was odd, but it just wasn’t the Panthers night. Every kick went straight to a Cowboys player or dead in goal. Luke Walsh was missed tonight, a gamble by Cleary didn’t pay off with Austin. With a star studded side the Cowboys made plenty of handling errors which is the scary. The scoreline could have been worse.
FULLTIME: And the nightmare is over with the Panthers beaten 30-0 by the Cowboys.
79th min – Mansour again saves a certain Cowboys try.
77th min – a kick through and Dave Simmons gets the bounce but loses the ball trying to bring down the ball to score.
74th min – Winterstein knocks the ball on after a long pass out to the wing.
73rd min – Thurston kicks in goal and its judged that Mansour in shielding the ball over the dead ball line makes contact and it’s a goal line dropout to the Cowboys.
71st min – Josh Mansour in a half break passes forward to Blake Austin. Bad luck as Mansour’s tried hard all night.
67th min – Blake Austin drops the ball ten from the Cowboys line. Sums up the Panthers night.
63rd min – Segeyaro dives over from ten metres out but it’s called a knock on. Correct call as the ball went loose from a Cowboys player backwards but Segeyaro’s hand knocked it down.
60th min – with twenty to go the Panthers still trail 30-0. Anthony Mitchell is tackled by Clint Newton and is down. A very touch call against Newton for a high tackle but he’s placed on report amazingly by the officials. There won’t be any case to answer.
58th min – Josh Mansour rushes off the line and the Cowboys pass wide and into touch.
56th min – Thurston pin point kick in goal forced dead in goal by Whare. Goal line dropout to the Cowboys.
54th min – grubber kick by Austin goes too long in goal – just!
53rd min – Panthers receive a penalty and now there’s another opportunity on the Cowboys line.
51st min – Fai Fai Loa drops the ball just short of the line with good scrambling defense by the Panthers.
49th min – Tariq Sims can’t hold a pass from Bowen and the Cowboys squander another chance to score. The referee’s caning the Panthers in the penalty count tonight after another penalty was conceded putting the Cowboys on the attack.
46th min – Lewis Brown drops the ball on the attack after a Cowboys handover.
44th min – Josh Mansour continues to have a strong start to the season with a nice offload to Segeyaro. A good sign in a poor game for the team.
41st min – COWBOYS TRY – Thurston runs beating Humble and passes outside to Linnett from ten metres out and it’s the worse start to the second half. Thurston’s conversion makes it 30-0.
SECOND HALF: The Cowboys receive first ball in the second half with a comfortable 24-0 lead. Bolton is smashed by Docker in the first tackle.
HALF TIME: The Panthers trail 24-0 after a horrible first twenty which saw four tries to the Cowboys with Matt Bowen having a hand in a couple of the tries. The Panthers last twenty has been better with the Cowboys making mistakes and the weight of possession evening up. But the game at half time looks all the Cowboys.
40th min – Panthers are penalised for being offside after a rebound off another Panthers player. Thurston goes for a sideline conversion. He’s kicked it and the Cowboys are 24-0 ahead at the break.
39th min – pass from dummy half to Docker called forward. Tough call as the pass looked flat. And that was the Panthers last chance to score to claw back this 22-0 defecit.
38th min – with prime field position the Panthers look disorganised and the final kick goes into the hands of Brent Tait. Cowboys make a mistake in the next set and the Panthers are being invited back into the game.
35th min – In an attempt to score Segeyaro goes inches from scoring but loses the ball near the posts. Panthers have been much improved in the last fifteen minutes, but about fifteen minutes too late.
33rd min – Docker spills the ball in a good tackle and the chance goes begging.
32nd min – Finally the Panthers force a mistake in their own twenty. Chance for points.
30th min – Adam Docker smashes a Cowboys player and he loses the ball. Still 22-0.
28th min – Panthers concede a goal line dropout as Robert Lui is hobbling in back play.
21st min – Sika Manu loses the ball short of the line in a good tackle. Dave Simmons earlier in the set of six has handy work keeping the ball in play after a poor pass. Cameron Ciraldo also was over the line but pushed back.
19th min – Robert Lui drops the ball ten metres from the Panthers line. And the Panthers get a relieving penalty. Cowboys 75% possession so far.
17th min – COWBOYS TRY – Robert Lui scores. The ball went right and Bowen gave a short ball to Tait and then onto Fai Fai Loa, the ball was intercepted by Mansour and fumbled backwards to gift Lui a try. Thurston converts and it’s 22-0.
10th min – COWBOYS TRY – Dean Whare has dropped a Thurston bomb on his try line and Winterstein has scored for the Cowboys. Panthers must stop the rot here. The Panthers are shell-shocked! Thurston converts and the Panthers have a lot of work to do at 16-0.
5th min – VIDEO REF – possible try to Kane Linnett but checking obstruction. Pass from Thurston to Bowen and Linnett scores out wide. Couple of Cowboys players decoy runners. Decision: Try. Cowboys score back to back. This try coming off the back of a penalty against Tom Humble. The Panthers haven’t had any ball since the kick off. Thurston’s conversion is good. Cowboys 10-0.
3rd min – VIDEO REF – try to Fai Fai Loa. Bomb from Bowen goes deep and on the Panthers line. Whare takes the kick then it’s stolen by Fai Fai Loa. Decision: Try. Cowboys in their first set score. Thurston from the touchline misses and the Cowboys lead 4-0 early in Townsville.
NRL Kickoff: Kevin Kingston allows Nigel Plum on his 100th game to lead the Panthers out tonight. A bit of support from the reception at the stadium. Cowboys kick off to start the game!
