Some people may criticise Front Row Forwards and how they don’t score well. But have a look at the top ten most expensive players and you will find three Front Rowers in there; Andrew Fifita ($476,100), Paul Gallen ($423,200), Trent Merrin ($394,900). This just goes to show how valuable and important they are in your fantasy team.
You have four Front Row forwards to pick in your team and you have to think very well to how you are going to approach picking them. The strategy I am going with towards this position is to have at least one player that is going to score you 40+ week in, week out. This player for me is Bulldogs hard man James Graham. There are so many positives to Graham. For one he has a great bye schedule, he won’t be playing Origin and for the points he scores he is reasonably cheap. Other guns include Merrin ($394,900), Fifita ($476,100), Gallen ($423,200) and Woods ($394,300). My big tip though is if going for Merrin and/or Gallen, put them in the Front Row position rather than Second Row.
The next player I am going for is going to be a POD (player of difference). For me I am going with Dragons forward Jack De Belin. De Belin finished last season with three back to back scores of 40. De Bellin ($263,100) is an absolute workhorse on the field and is also capable of playing in the front row and back row. He should be playing more minutes this year At a price of $263,100 I believe he is capable of making big money and scores. Other POD’s include Ryan James ($267,300), Aiden ($327,100) Tolman and Matt Scott ($279,400).
The two reserves in the Front Row position I am going with two cash cows. I am still unsure to who will be in there until after trials but for now I have Jason King ($133,100), King is a very cheap price for a player who should be starting in the Front Row with Manly, especially after the load of Forwards they have lost. They other reserve I have is Shannon Boyd ($107,000) but that may change after trials and looking at team list for Round 1. I will upload a full blog on Rookies and Cash Cows to look at, before the start of the season.
Good luck and enjoy the Nines this week, I am hoping the Red V can win it but my tip is Gold Coast who have a good side for this format in my opinion.
