Preview

The first of Sunday afternoon football for 2014 features a clash between the Parramatta Eels and the New Zealand Warriors.

Strong recruitment during the off-season by both clubs , will see two very different teams run out into the field to kick off their 2014 campaign.

Eyes will be fixed on Warriors star recruit Sam Tomkins , as the fullback runs out for the Warriors for the first time.  Tomkins starred for the Warriors at the Auckland NRL nines in February and the Warriors will look for more of the same from the fullback as he makes the transition from Super League to the NRL.

The Eels squad will also contain a handful of fresh faces in 2014, with the signings of William Hopoate and five-eighth Corey Norman.

Not only does the Eels 2014 roster feature numerous new recruits, Parramatta also enter the 2014 season with new coach, Brad Arthur.

With new players , new coach and a point to prove after their dismal 2013 season , expect a tough fight from the Eels on Sunday. However the overall strength of the Warriors squad, I believe will be too good for the Eels.

The battle between halfback’s Sam Tomkins and Jarryd Hayne will be entertainment in itself , expect this clash to be a highlight in the first round of the 2014 season.

Prediction

Warriors by 14.
