The 2013 grand final replay turned out to be a much closer affair this time around with the Manly Sea Eagles walking away  8-0 winners over the Roosters.

Manly opened their account in the 19th minute, after  Jared Waerea-Hargreaves was penalised and placed on report for a high shot on Glenn Stewart.

Cheyse Blair scored the only four pointer in the match eleven minutes out from half time which saw the Sea Eagles take a 6-0 lead going into the break.

Daniel Tupou’s disallowed try in the 73rd minute was the closest the Roosters got to posting points against a Manly side whose defence was arguably faultless throughout the entire match.

The Sea Eagles added another 2 points in the closing seconds of the game to bring up their 3rd win of the season and leave the 2013 premieres with a 2-2 record in 2014.

The Sea Eagles showed that strong defense is sometimes all that is needed to win footy matches, with the visitors holding the Roosters scoreless and only missing a total of 18 tackles in the game. An impressive achievement for a team coming up against the a Roosters side that has proved once already that scoring points is no issue for them in 2014.
