The final game of the fourth round in the National Rugby League is the Queensland derby between Gold Coast Titans and North Queensland Cowboys.
North Queensland travel to Robina with only one victory under their belts. Their latest loss coming to New Zealand Warriors at home despite the conditions being in the home side’s favour. The key players Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott, James Tamou and Brent Kite must lift, otherwise the Cowboys will be near the foot of the table with only one win in the opening month of the season. Rookie coach Paul Green has kept faith in the squad by naming an unchanged line-up.
Gold Coast are looking for their third win of the season after being too strong for Canberra last Sunday night. A win would see them placed equal first after another weekend of upset results. They’ll be without Will Zillman who’s sidelined with a hamstring problem, while Aiden Sezer is in doubt with a quad injury. Anthony Don comes into the line-up for Zillman. Albert Kelly will be looking to continue the same form from last week to improve the Titans chances of winning.
With heavy weather on the Gold Coast for the last week, this could become a forward battle between two experienced packs. Any opportunity out wide will need to be taken. In a weekend of unpredictability, the home side should get over the line in a close game.
