Manly and New South Wales forward Anthony Watmough will miss State of Origin III after he was unable to get a downgrade of his grade two dangerous throw charge at judiciary tonight.
Watmough lifted Queensland’s Nate Myles in the first tackle of the second half and was replaced on report. Being unsuccessful in fighting the charge, Watmough has now been banned for the next four National Rugby League matches. Manly will be without him for this week’s Cronulla game, and upcoming matches against the Roosters, Bulldogs and Tigers.
The National Rugby League judiciary came under scrutiny after State of Origin I where Josh Reynolds beat a dangerous throw charge after a tackle on Brent Tate.
