The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced the signings of veteran hooker Heath L’Estrange and former National Youth Competition Player of the Year and former junior, Beau Henry, to one-year deals.
It’s been a busy week on the recruitment front for the St George Illawarra Dragons. Salary cap pressures have prevented them from landing any big name players but they have still added plenty of new faces to their 2015 squad.
L’Estrange began his NRL career in 2004 with the Sydney Roosters, before making the switch to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in 2008 where he won a premiership. In 2010 he left for a 3-season stint in the UK with the Bradford Bulls before returning to Australia in 2014 and playing with the Roosters again. A veteran of 175 NRL games he will provide valuable depth and experience to the squad.
A Former Warilla Gorilla, Henry, was once touted as the next big thing, but injuries and lack of first grade opportunities have restricted him to just 14 NRL Games. He left the Dragons in 2011 to play for the Newcastle Knights, but played just six games before a mid-season switch to the Gold Coast Titans.Again he struggled to make it onto the field, playing just 8 games in 4 seasons.
Additionally the Dragons have announced the release of Bronson Harrison, Josh Ailaomai, Willie Mataka and Shane Pumioi.
