Greg Bird and Dave Taylor are the two biggest scalps to face drug offenses as part of the ongoing Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission investigation.
News Limited papers are reporting the pair have been issued with notices along with Kalifa Fai Fai Loa and ex-Titan Joe Vickery. This was on top of Friday’s bombshell where Beau Falloon and Jamie Dowling were charged. Falloon charged with four counts of supply, and teammate Jamie Dowling has been charged with two counts of supply and seven counts of possession.
On Friday the Titans had no option but to stand down both Falloon and Dowling and it’s expected the four announced so far today also will suffer the same fate. Bird’s career on thin ice after an incident at Byron Bay on the weekend of his wedding.
The news first broke on Friday when former Broncos, Queensland and Australian International Karmichael Hunt was charged with supplying cocaine as part of an investigation by Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC).
Guardian Australia is reporting that Hunt’s arrest is related to an earlier joint CCC and police investigation that allegedly uncovered cocaine trafficking by two other prominent footballers, one-time Queensland rugby league player Jason Smith and NSW counterpart Matt Seers.
