Australian fullback Billy Slater has failed in his bid to be fit for the ANZAC test this Friday in Brisbane.
The thirty-one year old with twenty-five internationals under his belt hasn’t played since injuring his shoulder back on April 6 2015 against the New Zealand Warriors. There was speculation Slater would return last week for the Storm’s clash with Manly but this didn’t eventuate.
Michael Jennings was named in Australia’s squad on Sunday night as a shadow player. He will now come into the line-up with Greg Inglis to move to fullback.
There was no place for Justin Hodges in the Australian team after he announced his retirement from representative football would be effective from the end of 2015.
