When Salford Red Devils announced the signing of Kevin Locke last July, Iestyn Harris wrote of the Kiwi full-back; “He is one of the brightest stars in the NRL but will now be doing his thing in the Super League and there is no doubt his signing is a great coup for Salford.”

Locke made a dream start to his Salford career, scoring a try on his debut as the Red Devils defeated Huddersfield.

Now, less than a year since his arrival at the AJ Bell Stadium, the 26 year-old appears to be heading out of the club.

Red Devils’ owner Dr Marwan Koukash announced that he will consider any bids for the player; ‘‘I will even listen to offers for Kevin right now,’’ he told Manchester Evening News.

The 2013 World Cup runner up is currently out of the side with a knee injury and 21 year-old Niall Evalds is quickly establishing himself as the club’s first choice full back in hiis absence.

Koukash, who has signed a host of star players for the club in his time in charge, says super star reputations will count for nothing in future dealings; ” ‘‘Big names do not mean anything to me any more.

‘‘Some who have come to this club have hardly given the club anything in return.

‘‘Why would I want to ruin the chemistry of what is a very good and strong squad by bringing in what I term big-time Charlies?

‘‘This will not happen again.’’

Locke, who has made just 13 Super League appearances for the Red Devils, was linked with a move to Scottish Rugby Union earlier this year, however negotiations broke down.

Injuries have hindered his opportunities this campaign and it looks like the Kiwi who arrived in a blaze of glory may have played his last game for the club.
