The North Queensland Cowboys will host the Gold Coast Titans at 1300 Smiles Stadium on Saturday night at 7:30pm.
Last time these two teams met in round 21 the Cowboys successfully came off with the win in front of a home crowd 28-8.
The Cowboys are coming off a loss from last week at AAMI Park as they could not adjust to the Storm’s strong defence and only managed to cross over the try line once. After losing the first half against the Warriors in round 24 but coming off with a 34 point win demonstrates how the Cowboys fight until the end of the 80 minutes. This come back followed after losing to top teams such as the Cronulla Sharks and South Sydney Rabbitohs. Being beaten by teams who sit lower on the ladder is disappointing and they will be looking to come out against the Titans and perform at their best to prepare for finals footy. They have secured a position in top 4 as they currently sit comfortably in third position on 36 points.
Michael Morgan remains out due to suffering an ankle injury in the Cowboys dominate performance last weekend. Ray Thompson comes in to the 5/8th position replacing Morgan and will be looking to make an impact and in cohesion with fullback Lachlan Coote and Thurston. James Tamou also makes a return to the side after scaring the fans and his teammates after being taken off in a stretcher last week against the Storm.
With the home ground advantage they will be looking to enter their finals chances on a positive note.
The Titans will be coming in to this round after testing the Dragons position in the top 8 and beating them by two points.
Kane Elgey and Dave Taylor were stand outs for the Titans last week and will be looking to lead and assist their team to victory. Performing a miracle in front of a home crowd for the last time this season was a show stopper and they will be looking to extend their winning streak by 2 on Saturday night. They will be ecstatic if they upset the home team but have slim chances the Cowboys prepare for finals (as stated before they have secured top 4 position on ladder).
