After their nightmare at Wembley, Hull Kingston Rovers bounced back in the best way possible – with a two point victory on home turf against fellow Super League side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. A first quarter brace from Kevin Locke, as well as a Lee Smith try, put Wakefield in a great position but Josh Mantellato and Kieran Dixon responded for the Robins. The Wildcats held a two point lead despite not converting any of their three tries. Dixon notched the go-ahead try on 68 minutes for the hosts, and things got better four minutes later when Shaun Lunt touched down. Wakefield winger Smith added a four-pointer to his side’s tally with two minutes of the match remaining. The West Yorkshire side couldn’t grab a winner with the time left on the clock. A relieving win for Chris Chester’s Rovers, who replied to their drubbing at Wembley in professional fashion.
