London Skolars are delighted to announce the return of Wigan Warriors for the 11th annual ‘Capital Challenge’ tie, hosted at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) ground, which will take place on Friday 22nd of January 2016. The ‘Capital Challenge’ has arguably become an iconic event in the Rugby League calendar and has become a firm favourite with City financial personnel and firms.
A Wigan XIII will be competing in their third Capital Challenge since the rivalry began and are yet to lose to the London Skolars side despite last year being the closest affair so far. Wigan are arguably the world’s largest and most recognised brand in Rugby League and are a strong contender for this season’s Super League trophy, that would add to an already impressive trophy collection. As an illustrious club saturated in history Wigan have undertaken the role of pioneers within rugby league, possibly better than any other, investing resources and personnel in all corners of the country. Since our last meeting Wigan have made even further strides in the capital, creating a business club and moving one of their upcoming Super 8 fixtures to the Den. Wigan have a stated strategy to increase their footprint in London and see a permanent future in having commercial and development activity in the City.

The HAC is one of the most unique sporting locations in the country.
