The North Queensland Cowboys have dominated in the Prelim finals at home in front of 21, 683 fans against the Cronulla Sharks.
The North Queensland cowboys came out and trampled over the Cronulla Sharks. They were dominate and set up brilliant tries to take the lead 19-0. JT’s quick thinking one minute before half time saw him set up and score a field goal to extend their lead.
Cowboys started infront after they were given a penalty after Sharks were holding too long in the tackle. JT decided to take the kick and he successfully scored the penalty field goal. Not long to follow Michael Morgan runs through a large gap to score the first try of the game. Johnathon Thurston unsuccessful with the conversion as they lead 6-0.
In the 16th minute the Cowboys were over the try line again following multiple errors made by both teams. Michael Morgan made another break to put his teammate Justin O’Neil over. Johnathon Thurston makes no mistake this time to slot it over the posts, extending their lead 12-0.
Exciting play followed the try for the Sharks after Ennis decided to have a short kick off. Controversial decision by referees of knock on but was clearly shown on the replay that it came off the knees. After backchat to the referee in the scrum the Cowboys received a penalty.
In the 32nd minute Cowboys were back again over the try line after Scott Bolton recieved a great pass from Kostjaysn and ran through the Sharks weak defensive line. Johnathon Thurston successfully added the extra points to extend their lead 18-0.
JT finishes off the second half by slotting through a field goal.
HALF TIME Cowboys lead 18-0 Sharks
Cowboys came out strong in the second half as Michael Morgan powers through the line in the 46th minute to score his second of the night for the Cowboys. JT made the conversion look easy to extend their lead further 25-0.
They continued to come out firing and continue their lead as Winterstein scores a try for his team in the 61st minute. JT fails to convert but his team remain infront 29-0.
In the 68th minute the best try of the season came after Thurston throws a pass between his legs and Feldt picks it up to finish off the job. JT successfully kicks conversion as they extend their lead 35-0.
The Cowboys want to prove their point they are ready for finals as JT puts Ethan Lowe over for another try. JT unsuccessfully kicks the goal but Cowboys continue to lead 39-0.
FULL-TIME Cowboys destroy the Sharks winning 39-0.
Cowboys will now compete in Grand Final Qualifier against Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park (Melbourne).
