2016 NRL PREVIEW: Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles

Last season placing: 8th position

Manly Sea Eagles had a very rough 2015 season. With two of their halfbacks being the centre of attention throughout the year they had a difficult gig. Daly Cherry Evans (DCE) and Kieran Foran played significantly well considering how much pressure was behind them especially DCE after back flipping on the Titans.

With a fairly new line up starting off the season it will be interesting to see how they come together as a team. They will not disappoint with the talent on the side.

The rookie coach, Trent Barrett at Manly Sea Eagles will have an enormous amount of pressure on his shoulders this season. The first round will be interesting to see how he performs and what partnerships he has formed. He has big shoes to fill this season after departing coach Geoff Toovey had done well to form a premiership winning side. Communication will be key for Barrett and he’s performance will be significantly lowered if players don’t trust his instinct. New side, new coach makes for a great season!

Key Players:

Dylan Walker: Walker moved from South Sydney Rabbitohs and will make a huge inclusion to Manly. He excels in the centres and the adjustment to 5/8th will be a huge challenge but one he will be comfortable with.

Daly Cherry Evans: With the pressure of being on the big bucks he will need to improve from last year. With most of the public disagreeing with his backflip he will want to achieve greatness in the Maroon colours and not let his team or new coach (Trent Barrett) down. He will be able to work together with Myles and Walker to create a new dynamic duo. Working with Walker in the halves will be interesting but an exciting prospect to look out for this season.

Nate Myles: The Maroon colours brings out the best of Myles and his leadership from Gold Coast Titans and QLD will play a huge role within the side. He will bring forward his consistency within the team and assist to lead from the front.
