The Sydney Roosters have been deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player, Des O’Reilly, following a long battle with illness.
Player number 653, Des was a member of the Eastern Suburbs’ 1975 Premiership-winning side and played 127 first grade games with the Club between 1975 and 1982. A City and New South Wales representative player, Des also played 14 games with Cronulla between 1984 and 1985.
The Clovelly junior was known as a strapping utility forward and made his first grade debut with Easts on April 13, 1975 in the Tricolours’ Round 4 match against Manly.
Funeral details will be advised, once they have been confirmed.
