INJURIES ADD TO ROOSTERS HORROR START
The Roosters are 0-3 and have lost Dale Copley and Ian Henderson with what looks to be serious injuries that will keep Copley out for 4 months and Henderson out for an unknown length of time going down with what looked like a severe break to his leg. After three successive years of being on top at the end of the regular season, the Roosters are feather dusters who may well be clearing space for a rare wooden spoon (crazy talk after three games, but where are they going to find some form).
TURNAROUND TIME CRUCIAL FOR QUEENSLAND DERBY
Cowboys play well at home, and will appreciate the extra couple of days rest before facing the Broncos who may well be undefeated when next Friday comes around. The combinations that looked a bit disjointed last week were on song and when the forwards push the Roosters pack around like they did, you can see why every team is not looking forward to the most northern destination in the NRL.
LOW COMPLETION RATES A CONCERN FOR COACHES
Handling is continuing to be a problem, 20 errors between them with the most being dropped balls from bad carries rather than from other issues. As a fan of the NFL I have noticed the tackling contact techniques that seem to be being introduced with the shoulder contact aimed to the elbow to help the ball come loose. This is combatted by players holding the point of the ball, a technique that works when you rarely pass the ball.
1300 SMILE STADIUM UP TO WET WEATHER STANDARDS
How good is the drainage at 1300 Smiles Stadium? Honestly, as a local, (I can see the lights if I am not at the game) we have had a very wet week and showers continued during the game. The turf was not a significant factor and you could not see any standing water on the field. So well done to the designers of the fields systems as the game could have been a total washout with the rain we have had this week.
Great Work by the Cowboys to not only put on forty points but to also keep the Roosters off the scoreboard.
