Danny Tickle has been released from his Widnes Vikings contract by mutual consent.
The former England second rower made 45 appearances for the Vikings since joining them from Hull FC in 2014.
Tickle, 33, suffered a head injury after being involved in an incident outside a Manchester nightclub in November last year.
The former Hull FC and Wigan Warrior has not featured for the Vikings in 2016 and the club confirmed via their official website that “Widnes Vikings and Danny Tickle have mutually agreed an immediate release from the player’s 2016 playing contract.”
The statement went on to say: “Danny has played an important part in the transition of Widnes Vikings during our formative Super League years and everybody involved with the Club wish Danny and his family the very best of luck for the future.”
