Super League sponsors First Utility have announced a shortlist of five players for the Player of the Month award for March.
February’s Player of the Month Chris Sandow is again nominated, as is Widnes full back Rhys Hanbury, Catalans Dragons’ Todd Carney, Wakefield Wildcats winger Tom Johnstone and Hull FC’s Jamie Shaul completes the quintet.
Former Parramatta Eel Sandow scored four tries in five games for the Wolves in March; as well as slotting over a dramatic match-winning drop goal against Salford at the start of the month.
Hanbury notched up 52 points for Widnes in March helping the Vikings finish the month in third place on the league ladder.
Carney has been instrumental for Catalans this month – the Dragons have won four out of their five fixtures in March – including all three of their away matches.
Johnstone scored three tries in the Wildcats’ five games helping them move off the foot of the table on the back of a 100% record over the Easter Weekend.
Hull FC full back Shaul touched down twice in March as the Black and Whites claimed three wins in the second half of the month, including Good Friday’s comeback derby victory.
