Dewsbury Rams leapfrogged Sheffield Eagles and Swinton Lions in the Kingstone Press Championship table with a 34-16 victory over the latter. The Rams set off like a house on fire with three tries in the opening stages courtesy of Lucas Walshaw, Dale Morton and Matt Groat. Liam Marshall replied for the visitors with a try on 22 minutes prior to Dewsbury’s Jason Crookes and Swinton’s Stuart Littler both being sent to the sin-bin. Andy Kain and Rhodri Lloyd then exchanged tries for the Rams and Lions respectively before Paul Sykes kicked a penalty goal to make the half-time score 24-10 to Dewsbury.
Marshall doubled his try tally with the first of the second half as Swinton cut the deficit to eight points but the final quarter saw Dewsbury home, with Tony Tonks and Sykes crossing the chalk for the West Yorkshire club.
