Dewsbury Rams steered themselves further away from the relegation zone with a 36-24 win against Swinton Lions at Tetley’s Stadium.

The Rams were 22-0 up at the interval after tries from Joel Farrell, Lucas Walshaw and a brace courtesy of the experienced Paul Sykes. However, Dewsbury went down to 12 men in the final minute of the first half after Jason Crookes was sin-binned after an high tackle.

Swinton got off the mark for the match in the 45th minute when Macauley Hallett got on the scoresheet. The try was converted but the hosts still held a 16 point lead. Josh Guzdek extended the Rams’ advantage when he crossed following a pass from Andy Kain. Sykes converted and he also kicked a penalty goal soon after. Dom Speakman notched Dewsbury’s final four pointer of the contest prior to Swinton registering three tries in the final ten minutes. Josh Barlow, Mike Butt and Rhodri Lloyd were the try-scorers for the Lions, who will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Oldham.
