Here’s our guide to the 2016 National Rugby League Grand Final.
ANZ Stadium will host the National Rugby League Grand Final on Sunday October 2, 2016.
Cronulla Sharks booked their spot in this year’s Grand Final winning 32-16 over defending champs North Queensland Cowboys at Allianz Stadium on Friday night. This will be their fourth Grand Final appearance as they attempt to win their maiden premiership.
Melbourne Storm will be aiming for their third premiership, their first since 2012 when they face the Sharks in the decider. They booked their place in the finale winning 14-12 over Canberra Raiders in a physical encounter at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
Whilst the referee appointments are due early in the week, Matt Cecchin is in the box seat to be the control referee in the decider after a good finals series. Gerard Sutton the other possibility to be the lead referee.
Penrith Panthers will look to defend their 2015 Holden Cup title when they meet Sydney Roosters in the Grand Final. The Panthers defeated North Queensland while Sydney Roosters edged out St George-Illawarra in matches completed on Friday night.
Kick-off is at 1:35pm (12:35pm Brisbane time)
State Championship Grand Final
This game will see the winners of the Intrust Super Cup (QLD) and Intrust Super Premiership go head to head. The previous two matches have been won by Queensland sides.
On Sunday, Mounties will go in favourites to defeat Illawarra Cutters while Burleigh and Redcliffe face off at Suncorp Stadium.
Kick-off is at 3:40pm (2:40pm Brisbane time)
Keith Urban is the headline act with Bon Jovi founding member Richie Sambora to support the country artist.
First-release tickets are on sale at Ticketek until 2pm on Sunday afternoon. From 10am on Monday members of the two Grand Final clubs will then have first chance on Monday morning from 10am, with tickets being released to the general public from 10am on Tuesday.
