Bradford Bulls booked their place in the Kingstone Press Championship Shield Final with a 36-22 victory over Dewsbury Rams at the Provident Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The hosts scored the first two tries of the contest through Dane Chisholm and Alex Mellor before Dewsbury cut the deficit when Andy Kain crossed the whitewash. The Bulls led 10-4 after 20 minutes but that lead was extended before the half-time break courtesy of tries from Mellor and Kris Welham. Lewis Charnock could only convert one try and Bradford went into the interval 20-4 up.
Dewsbury bagged the opening try of the second half as ex-Bull Jason Crookes touched down and Shane Grady converted. However, the thought of a comeback at that point proved short-lived due to quick-fire tries from Danny Williams and Kieren Moss. The Rams never gave up, though, and they got their reward for that with four pointers from Josh Guzdek and Toby Adamson. Grady added the extras to both tries and Dewsbury were 32-22 behind with five minutes remaining. Bradford’s defence stayed firm and they struck the killer blow down the other end through Ethan Ryan.
