Wakefield Trinity and Leigh Centurions meet at Belle Vue on Thursday in the first fixture of round six in Betfred Super League. Both sides have two wins in their last three and will be looking to add to their recent victories in the latest round.
Last Time Out
Trinity lost in round five to Leeds, who have had an upsurge in form in recent weeks. Tom Johnstone scored a brace and David Fifita added a third for Chris Chester’s men but their tries were not enough to test the Rhinos, who led 20-4 at half-time.
But Leeds are not the only team in good form – Leigh have two wins on the spin including a 30-0 drubbing of Huddersfield and a brilliant 22-8 victory over last year’s Grand Finalists Warrington. Neil Jukes’ men will come into this tie with lots of confidence.
This tie could feature significant wing play from both sides as Tom Johnstone and Ben Jones-Bishop go head-to-head with Matty Dawson and Adam Higson. Higson scored a try in his side’s win over the Wolves last week, while Jones-Bishop scored arguably the try of the season so far against Huddersfield in round two.
Thursday’s game at Belle Vue could prove to be close, and there could be points in it too. Wakefield by four.
