There’s something in Griffins Gatorade
The first half from the Panthers was arguably their worst half of football all season. They were on the wrong end of a 28-6 score line, and didn’t look up for the battle at all. But it was a completely different Panthers side that ran out for the second half, as they piled on 30 unanswered points to win the game. I wonder what coach Griffin puts in his halftime drinks.
Foran first half makes all the Dogs fans smile
If you were a Bulldogs fan watching Kieran Foran tear up Penrith in the first half, then you couldn’t help but crack a smile. He’s officially signed for the blue and white’s next season, and today was a great little sample of what Canterbury fans can hope to expect. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to replicate it in the second half, but he was all class in the first 40.
Penrith backs lead the way
The only member of the Panthers backline not to run over 100 metres in the game was Dean Whare, who ran for 91 metres. Moylan (210), Hiku (181), Watene-Zelezniak (175) and Blake (159) all ran riot against the Warriors. Combined, the Panthers backline ran for 227 metres more than the Warriors backline, showing just how dominant they were.
Both teams have a lot of work ahead of them
If either of these teams want to feature in finals footy this September, then they have a lot of improving to do. The effort of both sides in patches of this match was poor. Penrith were dismal in the first half, while the Warriors managed to blow a 22-point lead in the second. Both sides have the potential to be great, but it won’t come easy.
