The Panthers came back from a 14-0 deficit at the half to topple the Knights 30-20 up at the Knights’ home at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Moylan stakes a SOO Claim
James Tedesco is according to pundits the consensus pick for Blues fullback, rightly so, though there is conjecture over who a spot on the bench as utility. Matt Moylan, a name put forth for the slot, checked in with two tries and five tackle breaks as his side came home with a wet sail. Another suggestion for the slot played well in Tyrone Peachey, backing up from an excellent performance last week when the Warriors came to the foot of the mountain. Cody Walker could also put his name forward tonight – though he should be partnering James Maloney at pivot if the selectors were smart.
Big Dan the man for Newcastle
Daniel Saifiti was not a household name last year aside from Fantasy coaches who had the Newcastle big man as a cash cow. Crossing over for a try and clocking up a hundred metres, Saifiti was also a threat in general play with five tackle breaks and two offloads. A platform for a rebuilding club is always to start with a strong forward pack and that has the Knights trending up.
Panthers making it a habit
Last week it was a twenty two point comeback against the Warriors. Fourteen points isn’t as much, but Newcastle at Newcastle is always a proposition. Two weeks in a row now Penrith have mounted a pair of respectable comebacks, showing bravery that they lacked earlier in the year. Bryce Cartwright has returned in the halves but is yet to shine, so there’s still untapped potential in the hub of greater Western Sydney.
Knights put on a show for Hughes
Rugby league is no way comparable to what Mark Hughes and the other sufferers out there of brain cancer go through, but it was good to see the Knights show they had spine and character in the de facto Beanies for Brain Cancer Round that league has adopted. The league has done an amazing job running with the concept and hopefully if continues well in to the future because it’s a very great cause.
