Warrington Wolves are delighted to announce the capture of 18 year old back rower Luis Johnson from the Castleford Tigers on a four year deal from 2018.

The club have paid a £45,000 transfer fee for the England Academy international who was named man of the series in the recent tests against France. Luis also featured in the Under 19s Grand Final for the Tigers in 2017. With his athletic ability, size and aggressive style, the youngster is regarded as one of the hottest young products in the game.

Lee Briers, Wolves Assistant Coach said ‘I had the pleasure of coaching Luis as the England Academy Head Coach and was really impressed by his attitude, his understanding of the game and willingness to work and learn. I see massive potential in him, he is definitely one to watch. His signing is a huge coup for the club and I am looking forward to working with him and watching him grow and develop in to a Super League player’.

Warrington Wolves Head Coach Steve Price says ‘Luis is a great young talent who is held in high regard in the English rugby league community. We were attracted to him by his powerful attacking skills along with his strong, aggressive defence. Lee Briers speaks highly of him, naming him as his stand out player in the two game series against France earlier in the year, where his passion for the game and willingness to learn shone through. We look forward to watching him develop over the coming years. Luis will be a great addition to the 2018 squad and we still have the potential to bring in one more player’.

Luis Johnson said of his signing ‘I am really excited to be signing for the Warrington Wolves, especially at a time when the club has a new coaching set up and fresh ideas. The next four years are going to be big for me, I am looking forward to working under Lee Briers again after my time with England Academy. I can’t wait to get over to Warrington and get stuck in with the boys’.

Luis will be wearing squad number 24, a welcome addition the 2018 squad.
