Wests Tigers vs Gold Coast Titans (Sunday 2pm, Leichhardt)
Last Five Meetings: Titans 4 wins, Tigers 1 win
There were catastrophic signs for the Tigers season in their biggest loss of the season at the hands of Canberra. In a twenty-eight minute period the Tigers conceded six second half tries. It took until round four and 314 minutes of footy to concede their first six tries of the season.
Injuries and team selection at times aren’t helping among the mid-season slump, but the return of Robbie Farah to Leichhardt and the injection of Moses Mbye might just reignite their season. Whilst the Titans have their fair share of problems with Bryce Cartwright’s future at the club in extreme doubt and Kane Elgey’s banishment to Intrust Super Cup. They seem to be handling their issues a lot better with some good on-field results against the Bulldogs and a narrow loss to South Sydney at home. The Tigers bogey side of late could come up trumps.
PRECITION: Titans 22 Tigers 16
South Sydney Rabbitohs vs North Queensland Cowboys (Sunday 4:10pm, Barlow Park Cairns)
Last Five Meetings: Cowboys 4 wins, Rabbitohs 1 win
The Cowboys won’t forget the circumstances which led to their round 11 loss at the hands of South Sydney at 1300 Smiles. Jake Granville’s attempt to charge down a field goal attempt saw him penalised for being offside and debate about other instances where players had infringed and not been dealt with.
Ironically that night was the start of a current unbeaten run of five matches, where the Cowboys have one win from four matches. North Queensland have won both matches in Cairns against the Rabbitohs by 20-0 in 2016 and 23-10 last year, but without Michael Morgan and a struggling Johnathan Thurston, a victory against the rampaging Rabbits looks unlikely.
PRECITION: Rabbitohs 34 Cowboys 16
