WEEKLY WRAP | Intrust Super Premiership Round 19

A cracking round of fixtures in Round 19 of the NSW Intrust Super Premiership has done nothing to clear the fog around the make up of the top 8 as the shifting and moving continued last weekend.

The Wyong Roos thumping 30-6 win away in New Zealand over the Warriors moved it back into the top 8 at the expense of the inconsistent Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles. Josh Curran led the way for the Roos with two tries whilst Paul Momirovski and Sitili Tupouniua were stand outs with tries for the Central Coast based outfit. With 39 missed tackles and 12 errors, the Warriors only had themselves to blame.

In the SWR League match on the day, the Canterbury Bulldogs flexed its attacking muscles with a commanding 40-22 win over the Western Suburbs Magpies. Bulldogs hooker Zac Woolford ran amok in the play the ball area with a try and a try assist as the Dogs condemned the Magpies to their 4th defeat in 6 games as their slide down the ladder continues.
Josh Bergamin scored two more tries and took his tally in the season to 10, whilst Lachlan Burr, Asipeli Fine and Tom Carr all crossed the stripe for the Belmore boys.

In the round’s other games: Penrith stayed top with a 36-26 win over the Newcastle Knights, Mounties stayed in the top 2 with a gritty 22-14 win over Blacktown and the Jets consolidated its top 4 status with a 22-18 win over the Wentworthville Magpies at Ringrose Park.

This week on SWR League we travel out to Belmore Sports Ground to see the Bulldogs battle the Warriors with kickoff at 1pm. With only six points separating the 5th placed Bulldogs from the 10th Bears this is a huge game with top 8 ramifications, especially for the Warriors who are currently sitting in 7th position. Kickoff for the Intrust Super Premiership is at 1pm, with Jersey Flegg action between the Bulldogs and Warriors starting at 11, we will be live on SWR999.com.au/SS1 from 10am.

Elsewhere, Blacktown take on Wests at Brookvale Oval, Newtown tackle the Penrith Panthers in a top of the table clash at Henson Park, Newcastle and Wentworthville meet in Cessnock, North Sydney attempt to keep their season alive with an away trip to Mounties and on Sunday the Wyong Roos and St George Illawarra Dragons meet in a salivating clash at the Sydney Football Stadium.
