Easts Tigers vs Redcliffe Dolphins

Recap

REDCLIFFE CLIMB TO THE TOP OF THE LADDER

Redcliffe took top spot of the Intrust Super Cup as they took advantage of Burleigh’s loss in Port Moresby.

The Dolphins showed why they are one of the competition’s best defensive sides, as they withstood a barrage from the Tigers at times, but also showed they still have plenty to offer in attack. The game also featured some ferocious defence, with some big hits from both sides.

The errors and tries were shared in the first as the teams went to the break at 12-12. Redcliffe got the jump and scored early in the second half, and followed that up with two more by the 67th minute to hold a comfortable 28-12 lead.

Easts did rally with two tries in the last ten minutes, there wasn’t enough time to make it more interesting, the last pure consolation.

Whilst Redcliffe reaped the rewards from their Sunday afternoon, Easts Tigers have now gone five games without a win and continue to open the race for the bottom final 6 spots. They are now just 2 points ahead of sixth placed Souths Logan, and three of the chasing pack still have a free 2 points for the bye.
