Brisbane Broncos vs Parramatta Eels

preview by Hannah McGrory

The Brisbane Broncos will host the Parramatta Eels in round 23 at Suncorp Stadium in Friday night footy. Broncos sit at 4th place on the ladder whilst Eels are down in 13th place. With an expecting packed house at Suncorp Stadium, Friday night football couldn’t get much better.

The Brisbane Broncos are coming off their dominate win against St George Illawarra away from home. Their defensive effort was illustrated as they kept the Dragons try-less until the 75th minute of the match. They will be determined to maintain their strong position on the ladder as finals are soon approaching.

The Parramatta Eels will be positive with their efforts against the Manly Sea Eagles last week. Only defeating them by one point they will know it is possible to beat the Broncos and go into the match with a good attitude. They kept the Sea Eagles try-less in the second half due to a good defensive effort and will be looking to repeat this, away from home. They will miss having a home ground advantage at Pirtek and will struggle without a big crowd behind them.

The key match up between these two teams will be between the fullbacks, Darius Boyd (Brisbane) and Michael Gordon (Parramatta). Darius Boyd was impressive last week for his side as he lead them to victory after some brilliant plays as fullback. Darius Boyd will be at his home ground and comfortable as playing many games at Suncorp. The home ground advantage will definitely come in to play especially was he’ll be use to the lights.

Michael Gordon will be determined to continue Parramatta’s form against this top quality side. With Gordon signing with the Sydney Roosters next season, he will be determined to impress in the blue and gold especially at this end of the season.
Both fullbacks will be determined to impress and whoever performs at their best will lead their side to victory.

The Brisbane Broncos are always comfortable in front of a home crowd and will be looking to have a dominate win. The Parramatta Eels will be determined and up a challenge. Broncos will be too strong at home, Brisbane Broncos by 12.
