Cutters come in off a victory over Wynnum Manly, a four try apiece effort was separated by the boot of Nick Hynes. The PNG had a rare loss at home to the Norths Devils and will be looking to hit back on this trip to a very moist Mackay. Reports from local sources are confident that the game should go ahead, even with the deluge that has flooded the streets.
Last time out:
Big Prop Braden Uele bookended the scoring for the Cutters and his try at the 68-minute mark pushed the margin out to eight with just the last ten to go. This comfortable margin soon disappeared and it was a close battle for the last 7 minutes as the Seagulls pushed hard but were held out by the deep digging Cutters.
For the Hunters, it was an ambush start by the Devils who then were held try-less in the second half but discipline and three successful converted penalties pushed the margin out to the final 14-point loss. Coming back was not going to happen, especially when you continue to give soft points.
Who to watch:
Bland Abavu crossed for two tries for the Hunters and in this game, he matches up against Jack Joass. This full-back battle will be very interesting as they will be critical in being the additional man in the attacking line. How they inject themselves, how they can make their opponent commit will be critical in the victory.
I am heavily favouring the Hunters to bounce back, but the Cutters could pull off a win for the home crowd, looking for a highlight to a tough week. The head says Hunters by 6, the heart leans towards a
Cutters win by 2..
