PREVIEW

By Dan White

The Hunters are back home and will be looking to bounce back after being beaten up by the SC Falcons. They will face up to the Dolphins who sit at the top of the ladder after only dropping the one game so far. The Dolphins won again, in a shutout of Wynnum Manly and scoring four tries.

Last time out:

The Hunters were floored by a fast-starting SC Falcons, who never took their foot of the Hunters’ throats. This second loss was less of a surprise to their round 4 loss to the Devils and they will be not giving the Dolphins any leeway when they come to this clash. The Falcons took the clash to the forwards of the Hunters and they were outplayed across the park.

The Dolphins were controlled and their defence, which is second best in the league, perfect. Wynnum Manly sit in the middle of the table and so to be kept scoreless was an outstanding effort. Now they head up to Port Moresby and will have to put in an even better effort if they intend to come home with the points.

Who to look out for:

This battle will test every player, but how the Hunters and Adex Wera can contain Joshua Beehag may well determine the outcome of this game. Beehag crossed twice and Wera has not been at his best with only one try so far this season. It will be worth watching to see how both players perform in this must win match for the Hunters.

How they will win:

For the visiting Dolphins, it comes down to maintaining their excellent defensive record and not dropping their heads if the Hunters get a couple on the board early. By keeping themselves in the game, they should be able to exploit the gaps that have become a bit to frequent for Coach Marum’s liking.

For the Hunters, they need to get themselves back the confidence that they normally possess. They have shown that they are a side that loves to get a roll on and they will need it this Sunday of they are to mount a challenge both in this contest and for the rest of the season. It is important for the Hunters to make visiting teams fear coming up to Port Moresby.

Prediction:

I will not be surprised to see the Hunters take this contest, however the truth is, the Dolphins are deservedly on the top of the ladder as we head into round 7 and they would be confident of being able to take this game and the points back to Redcliffe. Dolphins by 6.
