Redcliffe Dolphins vs Souths Logan Magpies

The Dolphins retained their position at the top of the Intrust Super Cup as they easily defeated the Souths Logan Magpies at Dolphin Oval.

The win showed the might of Redcliffe, with their first 50 point haul of the year, and was an impressive follow up against a good top six side after beating the Sunshine Coast Falcons the week before.

It also shows that as promising as the Magpies season is, they have a little way to go to compete with the top teams. They remain on the fringe of the big teams though.

The Magpies did score first in the fourth minute, but that was all the joy they had as Redcliffe scored four tries in the first half to lead 24-6, and that featured a very unlikely early double to Troy Giess and the first of two tries for Thompson Teteh, who was named for the PNG Kumuls on Saturday night.

Redcliffe scored just after the break, but Souths Logan did respond and with 20 minutes to go the score was 30-12 and the Magpies were close enough if good enough. But for the second straight week Redcliffe put on a burst of tries in the second half with four tries in 13 minutes to cross the fifty mark and hand Souths Logan a heavy defeat. Both sides now are on a run of two games, wins for Redcliffe and losses for the Magpies.

Harsh on the Magpies who continue to supply their best to the Broncos, but a warning for the rest of the completion as Redcliffe
