Panthers Welcome Back Peter Wallace

Welcome back Peter Wallace… we wish you’d never left to come up to the Brisbane Broncos.

After all the speculation about Peter Wallace’s future at Brisbane, the St Mary’s and Lower Mountain product returns home to partner Jamie Soward in the halves on a three-year contract.

Wallace has been starting from the bench in the latter part of 2013 with Ben Hunt the preferred halfback at Red Hill.

Originally when Wallace moved to Brisbane in 2008, he was keen to partner Darren Lockyer in the halves and learn off the Queensland great.   Now he returns at the age of 28 and having appeared in over 150 NRL games and four Origin games for the Blues between 2008 and 2009.

There’s a certain buzz among Panther fans now the recruitment for 2014 is over.  Long suffering loyal fans have a team with a fighting chance of being competitive.  Wallace and Soward have great kicking games and will represent one of the most experienced halves combinations in the NRL with over 300 career matches.  Matt Moylan will improve with more NRL experience at fullback.  Kevin Naiqama in limited opportunities for the Knights has been a try scoring machine.  The Dean Whare and Dave Simmons combination has blossomed this year.  And then you have a forward pack the likes of Docker, Plum, Manu, Elijah Taylor, Brent Kite, James Segeyaro and Kevin Kingston.  I doubt so-called “rugby league experts” will be predicting the Panthers to pick up the wooden spoon just like they thought we would this year.

There’s a lot to like about 2014 right now.  Panther fans – snap up your membership when they’re available and get ready for one big season as we have a real crack at the NRL Premiership.
