1st birthday of

weloveleague celebrates on 22nd March 2014 our first year anniversary of the website.

When I first launched the site I had a dream, to talk about the game I love – rugby league.  Previous to this my venture into websites came through running a supporters website for the Penrith Panthers at  One that I’ve run for approximately eight years.

Over twelve months I have seen the amazing transformation of this site, starting off with a handful of dedicated and passionate writers.  Currently we have thirteen writers both here in Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom.

This year we kicked off round one with a commitment to cover all NRL fixtures this year with match previews and reviews.  Thanks to Sam Dasey, Farhan Shah, Shanaya Gregg, Adam Bagnall and NothingButWT for making this possible.  We are currently working with our team members in the UK to provide more coverage of Super League.

I also extend my thanks to other supporters groups who play a big role in promoting the game.  The hard work of Jake Jarmel with his 26 Rounds Sydney Roosters supporters site; and the Titans Legion who are passionate about everything Gold Coast.  The CCSC with the Sharks are a good example of fan engagement through their online site.

The National Rugby League should officially recognise these groups to improve the image between the organising body, and fans. Something along the lines of a national supporter group register would be perfect.  With lower crowd figures, the NRL is facing some issues in engaging with fans.

I congratulate Mary Konstantopoulos for her commitment to get Ladies Who League website up and running.  Her great work is a reminder that woman are very much an important part of the game.  I encourage our loyal site readers to check out their site!

This site will continue to evolve.  Our aim is to give up and coming journalists studying at Uni, and supporters passionate about rugby league a chance to develop their skills by talking about our great game.

If you are looking to volunteer for our site, let us know and we’ll be in contact!
