Not many people would have predicted that after 5 rounds of the 2014 NRL season the Gold Coast Titans would be sitting atop the ladder. But that is where they are, albeit with a negative points differential, and they head into Friday’s Queensland derby with the Brisbane Broncos full of confidence.
The Broncos are in third position and are coming off a disappointing loss to a rejuvenated Parramatta Eels side, so they will be ready to bounce back.
Captain Justin Hodges returns to the starting side and look for him to terrorise the Titans left side defence with his fancy footwork and fend. If the likes of Barba, Hunt and Hoffman can get him early ball, he will be in for quite a night. The Titans welcome back five eighth Aidan Sezer, pushing Maurice Blair back to the centres.
The Broncos form has been a bit patchy and it’s time for them to string a few wins together. it’s great to see a player of the calibre of Hodges back and fully fit, and with Barba looking better each week and Hunt in career best form, this will be a really good match.
