Match Review

The Hayne Plane was in full flight on Saturday night, as an enthusiastic Eels side outclassed the Roosters to walk away 14-12 victors. A try saving tackle by the star fullback saw the Eels hold out a late Roosters charge to claim an unexpected win over the 2013 premiers.

The Eels opened the scoring through Ken Sio in just the 6th minute to take the lead early, however the Roosters struck back moments later as forward Sam Moa barged his way across the line to score the Roosters opening points. A Maloney conversion put the visitors in front as momentum looked to swing back the Roosters way.

Ken Sio put the Eels back in the lead in the 26th minute but an outstanding individual try by Roosters winger Daneil Tupou saw the Roosters take a 12-10 lead at the half time break.

Try scoring machine Semi Radradra crossed just 5 minutes into the second half and gave the Eels a narrow 14-12 lead , which proved to be enough for the high-flying Eels, who now sit comfortably in the top 8.

The Roosters on the other hand will be hoping to turn their season around next weekend against the bottom of the table Sharks.
