Gold Coast Titans forward Dave Taylor has been called up as Corey Parker becomes the latest Queensland State of Origin player to be ruled out of injury.
Parker fractured his eye socket in a head clash with fellow Queensland teammate Matt Gillett in Brisbane’s victory over Canberra on Monday night.
Taylor has been in good recent form, scoring a hat-trick against New Zealand Warriors three weeks back and putting in a solid performance against front runners Penrith last Saturday.
Parker’s injury has added to the woes of Queensland’s buildup. Greg Inglis, Billy Slater, Daly Cherry-Evans and Cameron Smith are in doubt for the clash but you get the feeling that the quartet will be given until the weekend to be ruled in or out. Cherry-Evans shadow player is Ben Hunt who’s impressed in the number seven for the Broncos this season.
Cooper Cronk’s Origin series was over after a broken arm in the opening game of the series.
Queensland are outsiders to win the Origin game in Sydney next Wednesday.
