As 2014 winds down, we look back at the most viewed stories from our site over the last twelve months.

In the coming weeks we will look at what issues our game faced in 2014.

1. UPDATE: Official – Todd Carney sacked after being in hot water over photo
A big year for Todd Carney who once again landed in trouble off field which saw him moved on from Cronulla Sharks to French Super League club Catalan Dragons, not before some concerns from the other English clubs.  We will never know who posted the photo on behalf of Todd and one has to wonder if this was the only incident he was involved in at his time in the Shire.

2. Ten Thousand Miles Apart

Sean Hayes’ account of the drama from both the Super League Grand Final and National Rugby League final grabbed interest in October 2014.  Sam Burgess’ broken cheekbone after a head clash in the opening minutes in Sydney was upstaged by Ben Flower’s moment of madness which was condemned by the rugby league critics globally.  Another dent for rugby league to end it’s image of thuggery.

3. Why playing ANZAC Day is so special

ANZAC Day always stirs up the emotions in everyone and there’s no better way to commemorate the occasion by going to a rugby league game played with passion.  This was our look at why playing the ANZAC Day game is so special.

4. Enough is Enough

The need to push the International Game is important off the back of a successful 2013 Rugby League World Cup and last month’s Four Nations played in Australia and New Zealand.  Sean Hayes outlines the reasons why the International Game can flourish.
