The first installment of Saturday night footy for 2015, kicks off with the Newcastle Knights playing host to the Warriors.

After failing to live up to the high expectation set at the NRL Auckland Nines, the Warriors will look to get back to fulfilling their full potential in their first game of the season.

The Warriors have added some much needed firepower up front this year, with Bodene Thompson and Ryan Hoffman making the move across the ditch.

A formidable line up that features the undeniable brilliance of Shaun Johnson; the Warriors have the ability to go far in this year’s competition, starting with a win over the Knights in Newcastle.

As for the Knights, their 2014 campaign was rocked by unexpected tragedy and their performances on the field never truly recovered. With the team now focused on a fresh new season, they have every chance to prove the critics wrong and achieve successful results in 2015.

Rick Stone has taken charge of the Knights after the departure of legendary coach Wayne Bennett at the conclusion of last year.

This game against the Warriors will show whether or not Stone has been able to bring this highly capable playing group together and if he has been able to install a winning culture within the club.
