Martin Kennedy Issued With Alleged Anti-Doping Rule Violation Notice

The National Rugby League has today handed a Notice of Alleged Anti Doping Rule Violations to Sydney Roosters forward Martin Kennedy.

The Notice alleges that the 26-year-old breached the Policy by possession and attempted use of a banned substance but the NRL will make no further comment until Kennedy has the opportunity to respond to the Notice.

The Roosters issued the following statement:

“The Sydney Roosters have been advised by the NRL that Martin Kennedy has been issued a Notice of Alleged Anti-Doping Rule Violations under the NRL’s Leagues Anti-Doping Policy.

“The Club has only today been made aware of the allegations against Kennedy and wishes to reinforce that the Club maintains the absolute highest standards in its own policies and governance.

“The Roosters will not be making any further comment until Kennedy has had the opportunity to respond to the NRL.”

Kennedy made his NRL debut for the Roosters during the 2009 season and played 66 matches over the next 5 seasons before switching to the Brisbane Broncos for the 2014 season where he made 16 appearances.

He returned to the Roosters for the 2015 season.
