Round 7 review: the curse continues

Penrith lost Brent Kite and Josh Mansour to the much publicised injury curse in going down to Gold Coast Titans 32-6 at Robina on Saturday.

In warm conditions the Panthers scored first through Waqa Blake and looked full of energy coming off their win over Manly.  With the Titans leading 10-6 at the break, the game was far from being decided.

Talking of curses, Isaah Yeo felt the two types of curses in the second half.  The first a controversial “no try” after the ball was contested in the air and the Panthers hands were facing his own goal line.  This would have leveled scores at ten all.

Then he was involved in the turning point of the contest on the hour, sin binned for a professional foul after the Titans made a break down field.  He was dead set unlucky as replays suggest he was one of two players onside following the break and the play the ball was only slightly delayed.

The rest is history.  While James Roberts was the only Titan to score while Yeo was off the field, the loss of Sauce and Kitey left the remaining fifteen tired  at the back end of the game.  A speculator to Will Zillman close to full-time saw the score blow out to twenty-six points.

Well done to all the Panthers fans who made the trip down to Robina from all over Queensland, and from Interstate.  We look forward to seeing you for the Broncos game at Suncorp on Friday May 8.
