Richard Marshall’s Halifax kept themselves well in the top four race with a gritty 14-8 victory at the South Leeds Stadium. However, things weren’t going to Halifax’s plan after 40 minutes when Hunslet went into half-time with a 6-0 advantage courtesy of a Richie Barnett try which was converted by the dual-registered Leeds Rhinos half-back Jordan Lilley. The visitors responded in quick fashion at the start of the second half, big Dane Manning with a four pointer that turned into six from the boot of Steve Tyrer. Lilley edged Hunslet into the lead for a second time with a penalty goal but Fax would have the final say as tricky half-back Ben Johnston found his way over the whitewash to the delight of Halifax’s followers. Tyrer converted and added a penalty goal in the dying embers to seal the spoils.
