South Sydney Rabbitohs have dominated at home in front of 14, 236 fans over the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on Friday night.
Manly were first to score in the 26th minute with Peta Hiku going over the line but was unsuccessful with converting his try.
The Rabbitohs were quick to come back with Gray scoring a try in the 28th minute following a mistake by the Sea Eagles, James Hassam not being able to hold on to the ball. Isaac Luke also fails to convert, leaving the score level at 4 all.
In the 34th minute Steve Matai had a great contender of tackle of the year, after picking up Dave Tyrrell and tackling him onto the ground.
Isaac Luke was then successful in kicking a penalty field goal in the 38th minute allowing the Rabbitohs to lead at halftime 6-4.
In the second half the Rabbitohs came out with a bang after Gray flirted with the side line, kept the ball in play, threw it to his centre Bryson Goodwin to score in the 45th minute. Three minutes later John Sutton kicked across the field, Gray was there to score his second of the match after outrunning Manly’s defence. Isaac Luke was unsuccessful with both attempts at converting but Rabbitohs remained in front 14-4.
Manly were next to respond with Steve Matai scoring in the 56th minute. Hiku unable to successfully convert, Rabbitohs lead 14-8.
In the 63rd minute the Rabbitohs secured more points with Luke Keary going over the line for a try. Isaac Luke successfully converted for the first time tonight extending the lead 20-8.
