This seems to get said more and more often but this could be the most important West Cumbrian derby in years. Both sides are fighting to avoid the bottom two places in the division, Town currently occupy one of the bottom two spots but only are behind safety by a point and nearest and dearest rivals Haven are only three points ahead.
Last Time Out
Haven made the long trip to London last weekend and had the broncos at the back foot at one point as they were 24 all, London run away with it scoring 16 points in the final 20 but Haven could be proud of their attacking exploits on the day.
Workington had the visit of Leigh to the Zebra Claims Stadium and the Centurions run away with it in the first half and it was game over at 32-0 at half time. The second half was a tighter affair with Leigh winning it 18-12 but you feel the Centurions may have taken the foot off the gas. Town will need a much better performance at the home of their rivals to get anything from the game.
Both have international stars in their ranks, Dion Aiye and Jarrod Sammut play stand off for their respective sides, Aiye for PNG and Sammut for Malta. Both have a kicking game many Super League clubs would be happy to have in their ranks. The kicking game could be vitally important for what should be a tight game between these two West Cumbrian Rivals.
Prediction – Workington are currently on a winless run of 6 matches, the longest in the game while Haven are on their best streak of the season despite defeat last week – Haven by 10.
