t was party time in South Yorkshire for Halifax. Going into the match, they had a better points difference than Sheffield in third and Featherstone in fifth anyway so a 52-0 win was just a further indication that Richard Marshall’s men weren’t going to be denied a top four finish. Sheffield’s win over Featherstone later on in the day did confirm their place in the Qualifiers. Dane Manning scored the first try of the match on four minutes for Halifax, and the back-rower added a second score 11 minutes later as the visitors got off to a good start at the Keepmoat Stadium. Steve Tyrer scored the final try of the first 40 minutes with one minute to spare, the goal-kicking centre converted all three tries as Halifax went into the sheds with an 18-0 lead. Fax piled on the points after the break with six tries going their way. Tommy Saxton touched down in the 42nd minute before Tyrer completed his double five minutes later. Andy Bracek and Ben Johnston both got on the scoresheet before the hour mark was reached. The final two tries went to Ryan Maneely, who scored a brace in three minutes whilst the Halifax fans cheered their side on to an eighth straight victory and a place in the top four.
