Preview

St Helens will be looking for their first win in the Super 8s when they host Huddersfield at Langtree Park on Thursday night.

Despite having finished the regular season in second place, two defeats against Catalans and Hull FC have seen Saints slip to third and their play-off spot is now looking increasingly vulnerable.

Huddersfield can leapfrog Saints in to third place with a win and go in to the game full of confidence following last weekend’s 24-12 win over Catalans.

Paul Anderson is expected to name the same starting 17 from the victory over the Dragons having named an unchanged 19-man squad.

St Helens are boosted by the return of winger Tommy Makinson, who has been out since June with a leg break.

Kyle Amor also returns to bolster their forward line.

Keiron Cunningham’s side have won both matches against Huddersfield this season. They ran out 11-8 victors at the John Smith’s Stadium before a Luke Walsh drop-goal secured a 35-34 win back in July.
