Well done to the Penrith Panthers club and their initiative to provide their players with mental illness awareness.
Over the past few years we’ve heard of tragic stories involving young rugby league players taking their own life at a young age. I believe being one step ahead of the game will help the players prepare for a competitive National Rugby League season.
The National Rugby League have introduced a State of Mind program to promote awareness of mental illness. Their site address is http://www.nrlstateofmind.com.au/.
The key words spoken at the forum being gratitude, empathy and mindfulness are so strong in trying to combat mental illness.
If you or someone you know is suffering from mental illness, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 137 934.
