Kingstone Press Championship Round 1 Preview – Halifax V Whitehaven

Richard Marshall’s Halifax had a 2015 they would like to build on after being in the race for promotion to Super League and despite not qualifing automatically for the top tier or the million pound game it’s an experience they can take into the 2016 and they will be looking to be their once again with it comes to the end of the regular season.

Whitehaven escaped relegation in 2015 with a final weekend victory over Doncaster and that will be the aim for James Coyle and his West Cumbrian side this season.  Coyle who along with his Halifax counterpart Marshall was nominated for coach of the year, a coach who was thrust into the role on the eve of last season was very happy to secure championship status.

Both sides have signed and lost key players in the off-season and will be hoping their new signings have gelled together well to get the season underway with a great performance and more importantly two points.
